The Auckland Regional Services Trust might sell its 80 per cent stake in New Zealand's largest port operator, Ports of Auckland Ltd, worth about NZ$700 million (about HK$3.68 billion), according to a report on options for the trust's future.

Local Government Minister Christine Fletcher commissioned the report, which suggests the trust and its assets might be broken up and sold or divested to either a new regional organisation or to the local government in Auckland. Alternatively, it may be left intact and expanded.
