Costly way to see country

I AM pleased to see the Hongkong Government's promotion to get people out walking in the fresh air of the country parks is working. I'm also pleased to see our auxiliary police out in force near the country parks slapping on $200 parking fines as fast as they can.

One Sunday afternoon (at precisely 3.39) I was parked, safely, right up on the pavement along with six other cars at the entrance to Tai Tam Country Park, outside Parkview. There is no parking provided to enjoy the country there.

Imagine my dismay on returning to find a $200 parking fine! There is no danger, no obstruction and no inconvenience parking where I did - as well as no other choice.

How I look forward to more days in the country. MICHAEL BENTLEY Central
