Refurbishment works at visual arts centre

The Urban Council has a message for artists who use its facilities in Hong Kong Park.

The council's Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre at the park will be partially closed until November 28 for improvement works.

A council spokesman said the improvement works would involve the sculpture studio for metalworkers and the studio for stone and woodworking.

Two separate rooms for woodworking and stonework will be created.

As well, two seminar rooms will be modified to become multi-purpose rooms, the spokesman said.

Bookings for the lecture theatre will also be partially suspended during the refurbishment.

The two seminar rooms will be closed until September 26.

The lecture theatre will only be available for hire from 6 pm to 9 pm, Tuesday until Saturday, and from 10 am to 9 pm on Sunday, starting on Monday until September 26.

The sculpture studio for stone and wood will be closed from July 28 to November 28.

The metal sculpture studio will be closed from August 18 to November 14.

Other facilities in the Visual Arts Centre would not be affected by the renovation work, the spokesman said.

The clay and plaster sculpture studio, the four printing studios for planography, intaglio, serigraphy and relief, the ceramic studio and the exhibition hall are available for hire as usual.

Booking applications for all facilities are accepted three months in advance.

Inquiries should be directed to 2521 3008.
