China's new head of liaison group

The Chinese Foreign Ministry official on Hong Kong affairs, Wang Guisheng, is to head the Chinese team at the Joint Liaison Group (JLG).

Mr Wang, formerly director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office under the Foreign Ministry, succeeds Zhao Jihua.

Mr Zhao becomes deputy commissioner of the SAR's Chinese Foreign Ministry.

According to the China News Service, Mr Wang and Mr Zhao met JLG British team leader Hugh Davies yesterday. Mr Wang's colleague, Wu Hongbo, was named spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Commission.
