United 'will field top names'

A star-studded, 20-strong Manchester United squad has been guaranteed by organisers for this month's sell-out clash between the English Premier League champions and Hong Kong giants South China.

Organisers said flights had been booked for the United players including new signing Teddy Sheringham and two players, Gary Pallister and Ryan Giggs, who were rumoured to be missing the Asian tour which begins at the Hong Kong Stadium on July 20.

'We have booked flights for about 35 people, including 20 players. The only way some of the players might not come is if they are injured because United have started pre-season training again. They might get injured during training,' said Julian Kam of ProEvent, organisers of the match dubbed the Marlboro Cup.

Sheringham, United's GBP3.5 million signing, will be making his second appearance in Hong Kong inside 14 months.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker represented England in their last preparation match for Euro 96. England beat Golden 1-0.
