Timing point

We refer to the letter headlined, 'Congested', from Lawrence H.M. Fei (South China Morning Post, June 23).

The bus-stop referred to in the letter is a timing point for our company's very popular route 5B, which operates between Kennedy Town and Causeway Bay (Eastern Hospital Road).

As route 5B runs on a high frequency headway of five to six minutes, it is very easy to have our buses 'bunch up', particularly during periods of acute traffic congestion.

We are very sorry to have caused inconvenience to other road users, but we have already instructed our regulating staff to closely monitor the situation and to take necessary action to reduce 'vehicle stacking' at the location mentioned. For the longer term, we will initiate further discussions with the Transport Department to come up with a more satisfactory solution regarding route 5B's terminating point in Causeway Bay.
