All Nippon Airways (ANA) said yesterday it would use the opening of Chek Lap Kok airport to strengthen its Hong Kong network. The Japanese carrier was hoping to start services from Japanese cities - including Nagoya and Fukuoka - to Hong Kong. It also was hoping to increase frequencies on the Hong Kong to Osaka route from daily to twice-daily. During 1996, ANA flew almost 350,000 people on its Hong Kong routes - making it the destination of more than 12 per cent of all of its international passengers.
