Officials defend record on Garley

The Buildings Department defended its failure to inspect part of the Garley Building for almost two years after receiving a request from the Fire Services Department. It was criticised in the Garley Fire inquiry on Tuesday.

Leung Shiu-hong, assistant director, said the complaint required no immediate action. 'It was only an access serving the first to third floors and was not designed as a means of escape,' he said.
