Leader Cheng deposed

China's Cheng Jun has been knocked off the top of the Omega Tour's Order of Merit by American Gerry Norquist.

Cheng, 28, took the leading position after winning the Volvo China Open in May, when he picked up the winner's cheque for US$72,000.

But the lack of competitive play in summer has seen Cheng struggle since the Omega Tour resumed this month, and he found himself out of the money at the Sabah Masters and the SingTel Ericsson Singapore Open.

Norquist, second to South Korea's Kang Wook-soon in last year's Order of Merit, with US$129,404, moved into top spot after his joint third-place finish behind winner Zaw Moe of Burma in the Singapore Open on Sunday.

American Norquist, 30, winner of the DFS Galleria Guam Open in April, has won US$91,355, with Moe taking second place on US$88,590.

Cheng is third with winnings of US$79,250.

The ninth event on the Asian PGA's Omega Tour is the Philip Morris Asia Cup, which starts tomorrow at the Woo Jung Hills Country Club in South Korea.
