Undaunted by last week's accident, Citizens Travel yesterday continued to offer tours including trips around Manila Bay.

The Philippine Dream tour, at $2,340, was advertised and available at the firm's office in the Landmark building in Central, with the boat trip advertised as 'an idyllic sunset cruise through Manila Bay'.

However, other travel operators said they had stopped including Manila Bay cruises in their packages in the past few years because bad weather conditions meant frequent cancellations.

Daniel Chan Kin-pang, managing director of Hong Thai, said: 'If you have to cancel it, you get complaints. We had it up to about five years ago, but not now.' None of five major travel companies polled yesterday offered sunset cruises on their Manila trips.

Operators of the four other boat trips offering sunset cruises in Manila Bay yesterday appealed to the public not to boycott their vessels because of the accident.

They said their businesses, which previously made 10,000 pesos (HK$2,725) a week, had collapsed.

One operator said: 'We are appealing to the public. Our boats are safe.'
