Detained fishermen await official moves

The fate of 23 Chinese fishermen, arrested two weeks ago for fishing illegally on Philippine-claimed waters in the Spratly Islands, is awaiting official action by the National Committee on Illegal Entrants.

Six of them had certificates of identity issued by Hong Kong authorities, Superintendent Hermogenes Tosino of the national police headquarters in Palawan province said. All 23 were in good condition, he added.
