Airport police across the mainland have seized more than 360,000 illegal publications and videos, including pornographic material.

The move is part of a campaign to protect intellectual property rights and to block the import of products with illegal or pornographic contents.

More than 27,000 pornographic items were among the seizures, Xinhua (the New China News Agency) reported. In one of the most serious cases, police at Baiyun Airport in Guangzhou found 183,000 pirated video cassettes, 7,085 of which contained pornography.

In another case, an air shipper smuggled 7,000 pirated video cassettes to Guangzhou but was stopped by airport police.
