Sri Lankan selectors have made an apparent about-turn and will pick a side devoid of top stars for this month's New T&T/Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Sixes.

Brian Catton, of organisers Cricket World International, said no reason was given for the change of heart.

Sri Lanka were due to send star players Sanath Jayasuria, Aravinda De Silva and skipper Arjuna Ranatunga to the tournament.

They are now expected to field some established names and up-and-coming players.
