SOUTHAMPTON'S Matt Le Tissier is set to give the Saints a much-needed boost by returning from injury sooner than expected.

The mercurial England forward has recovered rapidly from a broken arm and is likely to play for the Premier league side against Liverpool next weekend.

Le Tissier broke a bone at the tip of his elbow after falling awkwardly in a pre-season friendly in Germany and following surgery back in England was ruled out for three months.

But the loyal Saint is already back in training and will play for the reserves aganst Watford three days before the Liverpool clash.

He said: 'There have been no complications and I hope, given the chance, to step up my involvement once I have seen a specialist next week.

'I am aiming to be available for the Liverpool match.'
