HK drawn with Japan, Guam and India

Hong Kong have been drawn with Japan, Guam and India in Group A of the Asian qualifying round for the women's World Cup, writes Jessie Hui.

Hong Kong, who have improved over the years and could make an impact in the qualifying tournament, will kick off their World Cup campaign on December 5 against India in Guangzhou, where the qualifying tournament is being staged.

The local women face Guam and Japan on December 7 and December 9 respectively.

China will compete in Group B against North Korea, the Philippines and Uzbekistan, while Indonesia, Kazakhstan, South Korea and Taiwan are in Group C.

The group winners and the best runners-up will play in the semi-finals on December 12, while the finals are schedule for December 14.

The top three Asian teams will qualify for the World Cup finals.
