Media talks on suicide coverage

ABOUT 100 media representatives will discuss whether their coverage of teenage suicides should be censored, during an open forum on Saturday.

The meeting is being organised by the Commission for Youth and the City and New Territories Administration.

The Commissioner of Youth, legislator Mr Eric Li Ka-cheung, said the move was in response to a South China Morning Post article which asked whether the media prompted teenage suicide or sought to lay the blame with a group or individual. The Hongkong Journalists' Association has set guidelines on the issue.
