Moore's Let It Be going for a song

IT'S a long way short of the glamour of Derby Day but champion trainer John Moore will not be complaining if he can pick up a winner at tomorrow night's Happy Valley equitrack meeting.

And he should go close in the second leg of the Double Trio with topweight Let It Be who has solid form on the equitrack surface and is a Class Four galloper competing in a lower grade. This moderate, eight-runner Class Five race over 1,400 metres will not take much winning and it is hard to see Let It Be not running in the first three.

He re-appeared after a break at Sha Tin nine days ago and finished just over six lengths behind King Spot - re-opposing here - in a run that suggested immediate improvement was likely. King Spot, having struck winning form, will be difficult to beat but has no form on the synthetic surface. The selection has run some of his best races on it. He is seven pounds better off for his recent beating so is placed to reverse form. While King Spot looks a lively chance, there is also a threat from the Geoff Lane-trained Ibis, partnered by claimer Vicky C. W. Choi.
