Francis Yuen Tin-fan has been appointed deputy chairman of Pacific Century Regional Developments (PCRD). He also becomes chairman of Top Glory Insurance Co (Bermuda), in which PCRD is the controlling shareholder.

Mr Yuen is also deputy chairman of Pacific Century Group and was a former chief executive of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.

Pacific Century has also named recently-appointed managing director, Peter To, as the company's CEO.

C. Y. Leung and Co has announced the appointment of Lawrence Wong as director of the PRC department.

He joins the existing team of real estate professionals, with specific responsibility over property sales.

Educated in Canada, Mr Wong has had 14 years experience in real estate.

Japan Airlines (JAL) has recently appointed two executives to Hong Kong following the transfer of former executive Michio Okamura back to Japan after six years in Hong Kong.

The two new executives are Fumio Hattori, senior vice-president for Asia and Oceania region; and Yoshitaka Hirayama, vice-president and regional manager for Hong Kong and Macau.

Their role will be to enhance JAL's business activities in the region.

WRQ, a leading developer of host connectivity and software management products, has strengthened its regional management team with the appointment of Chris Crane as its general manager for Southeast Asia.

Mr Crane will be responsible for the WRQ'S sales, marketing and technical operations.

His responsibilities include developing distribution channels in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.

He will also enhance WRQ's technical support capability in countries in the ASEAN grouping, as well as in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan.

Mr Crane is based at the company's regional headquarters in Singapore.

Sonoco Asia has announced the promotion of Howard Coker to regional business development manager for its consumer products division.

Before joining Sonoco, Mr Coker worked in CPD operations in the United States.
