Pitch in such a mess

On Saturday, September 20, my sons attended the rugby tournament held at the King's Park rugby pitch.

This was an outing attended by several clubs within the Hong Kong area, their players and families.

I was totally amazed at how poorly the pitch was maintained with the growth in some areas nearly knee-high.

These same fields were meticulously maintained by the British Army during their presence here. Why now have they been left in such a state of disrepair? Weekend sporting events play a big part in the lives of many of Hong Kong's people, young and old alike.

With the number of available facilities extremely limited, why is it so difficult to maintain these fields? It certainly cannot be due to the lack of manpower. Would it be possible for the Government Properties Agency to address this issue? CANDACE STARLING Tai Tam
