A veil of secrecy was drawn over last night's talks between the five First Division clubs and the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union as to how to handle issues brought about by professionalism.

After more than three hours of discussions, club representatives emerged, but refused to elaborate on what had gone on behind closed doors.

'The talks were useful and constructive . . . there was an exchange of ideas,' said Kowloon's Leighton Duley.

A Union source said the clubs asked the Union to convene an emergency meeting of the entire directorship to address the contentious issues.

'Yes, we will be meeting shortly to look at the issue and see how we can solve this problem with the resources we have,' HKRFU executive director Allan Payne said.
