Rhone-Poulenc opens park

French chemical giant Rhone-Poulenc opened the first phase of a US$24 million technology park in Shanghai yesterday, boosting its investment in China to $400 million. The park consisted of a hi-tech upstream silicone manufacturing plant, four chemical laboratories and two warehouses employing 130, the company said. Phase Two, to be completed by 2000, would double the park's area to 20 hectares and include fine chemical units, formulation, packaging and training and development facilities.
