A TASK force set up by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) to fight counterfeit credit card syndicates is to be disbanded next month because of a decline in card crime in the territory. Since its formation two years ago, the task force hasmade 221 arrests and seized 472 fake cards, 600 encoded cards, 180 account details, 50 forged travel documents and 11 pieces of equipment used in producing the counterfeit items. Assistant ICAC Commissioner Mr Tony Godfrey said the task force, which workedclosely with the Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) and overseas authorities, would be re-assigned to other areas of corruption next month. ''The general consensus is that there was a problem and that we have broken the back of the problem and can move on to something else,'' Mr Godfrey said.
