Dittman set for stint in Macau
Australian riding legend Mick Dittman is set for a pre-Christmas riding stint in Macau.
The emerging racing jurisdiction, which has made great strides since world-renowned Australian racing administrator John Schreck became director of racing, has been making a concerted effort to boost the strength of its riding ranks.
Multiple Melbourne champion jockey Greg Hall dashed straight from his agonisingly close second on Doriemus in the Melbourne Cup to ride there and is expected to remain for at least three months, while talented South Australian champion Steven Arnold is riding for the season duration.
Dittman is currently in China on business but is known to have already had discussions with the Macau Jockey Club and is set to ride for two or three meetings leading up to Christmas.
'We've been in contact with Mick Dittman. He has expressed an interest to ride here on his way back from China in the period before Christmas,' Schreck said yesterday. 'We'd be optimistic that things can be sorted out and that he'll be riding.'
