Gun law - Policewomen (from left) Shirley Ho Sui-yin, Ruby Yue King-pui and Maggie Lam Suet-ping are ready for anything after being trained how to handle the force's most lethal weapon, the MP5 sub-machine gun.
They got to grips with the hi-tech firearm during a three-day training course and could not understand what all the fuss was about. 'Some male officers say the MP5 training is the toughest firearms course, but we don't think it's that hard,' Ms Yue said. Ms Lam, who hit the target with all 60 bullets in her final test, added: 'If you can make good use of guns, you can protect yourself and the public well.' The trio were among 20 of the 50 female members of Hong Kong's elite police units being taught how to use the weapon, which has yet to see action since its introduction last year.
