AN 18-month-old boy fell 10 floors to his death from his Shamshuipo flat yesterday.

Police said the boy fell through a window grill that his mother had opened only 10 minutes before so she could take in the washing from an outdoor rack.

Police said Wong Lok-yin apparently crawled through the grill while his mother went to check on some cooking in the kitchen at about 10 am.

After the toddler's parents discovered that he had fallen, they took him to the nearby Caritas Medical Centre by taxi. The boy was certified dead at 11.07 am.

The distraught parents - seafood stall owner Mr Wong Yat-man, 26, and 25-year-old Mrs Wong Tsang Lau-sim - were also treated at the medical centre after learning of the death of their only child.
