European Tour chief Ken Schofield yesterday gave a vote of confidence to the Omega Asian PGA Tour, writes Spencer Robinson.
'Players require opportunities and incentives and that's what the Omega Tour has provided for Asian players,' said Schofield, who attended yesterday's final round.
'We will give every encouragement. It is our obligation to support all efforts for golf,' he said.
Schofield and Seamus O'Brien, chairman of Asian PGA Tour Ltd, intimated that a joint-sanctioned event between the two Tours had been discussed along with the possibility of introducing a Ryder Cup-style contest between the players of the respective circuits.
