Traders with a fund-raising appetite

Traders from the Futures Exchange will be treated to fine food and wine at the City Hall Chinese Restaurant tonight while raising funds for Operation Santa Claus.

The exchange has supported the campaign for the past three years, raising $150,000 by selling Santa hats to floor traders and staff before the Christmas break.

That tradition will continue tomorrow, but this will be the first year that a charity dinner has also been held.

The Futures Exchange believes the events could raise up to $100,000.

The exchange will also make a separate donation of another $100,000.

Exchange chief executive officer Randy Gilmore is an ardent fan of the appeal: 'We have been an active supporter of this worthy cause for the past few years.'
