Merger boosts Neptune ranking

Neptune Orient Lines has been ranked the seventh-largest container line in the world, up from 15th last year, boosted by its acquisition of American President Lines, a Containerisation International survey shows. Neptune now had a total capacity of 165,582 teu (20 ft equivalent units) with 74 ships, the survey said. The survey ranked Orient Overseas Container Lines as 15th largest container line, having 30 vessels with a capacity of 85,940 teu. There were seven Asian carriers ranked in the top 10.
