Chemical output to rise 8pc

The output value of the mainland's chemical industry is expected to grow 8 per cent next year to 300 billion yuan (about HK$279 billion) compared with this year, the China Chemical Industry News says. Chemical exports were forecast to rise a year-on-year 10.3 per cent next year to US$16 billion, the newspaper said. In 2000, the industry's total output value was expected to reach 740 billion yuan, it said, but gave no further details.
