UK Protection and Indemnity (P&I) Club members can access their claims data through the club's extended Web site.

The club said the data, contained in the ClaimsTrac database, offered members a major new facility for claims analysis.

Herry Lawford, the club's service director, said: 'Thomas Miller [the club's manager] have been highly active pioneers in harnessing new electronic information technologies to meet members' requirements.' The improvements would enhance members' use of the club's databases, he said.

Members have to register on Thomas Miller on-line, the club's information service Web site, before they are allowed to access the claims records.

A personal subscriber menu is created for each member, who can then access and analyse his up-to-date claims data - by ship, place of incident, amount paid out, totals and averages.

A member can also download the information into spreadsheets. Previously, the information was only provided in printed reports on an annual basis.

The club's correspondents can also access the database of ships when they wish, regardless of time zones.

The club is also making available the Miller Encyclopaedia and the Miller Environmental Encyclopaedia as an Internet service.
