SAR ready to samba

Tuesday, 24 July, 2012, 7:04pm

Two samba music productions will head straight to the SAR after the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, with musicians and dancers performing live and holding workshops.

Mike Maran, one of Britain's most talented narrators and theatre artists, will use a mixture of verbal skills, drums, projected images and samba music to recreate the life of the quirky Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman.

The Fire Water Ensemble, an offshoot of the Edinburgh Samba School founded in 1992, involves five musicians and a dancer who will perform the Afro-Brazilian samba with a Latin and Celtic touch.

Surely You're Joking Mr Feynman - staged by Mike Maran Productions - can be seen at the Fringe Club's La Cremeria Theatre on Friday and Saturday at 7.30 pm.

The Fire Water Ensemble's Samba Extravaganza is at the same venue on January 10 and January 16 at 10 pm.

The British Council will host a Samba Feast on January 9 and January 12 at its Admiralty offices.
