Lucent's China deal

Lucent Technologies has won a US$10 million contract to supply a dedicated wireless digital data network in China.

The system will be the country's first nationwide network to use cellular digital packet data technology. It will be installed in the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications' China Radio Data Network, and include systems in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The network will be operated by China Telecom.
