Department to remove traffic lights

Saturday, 02 June, 2012, 10:48pm

I REFER to the letter headlined, ''Traffic lights so unnecessary'' (South China Morning Post, March 10) querying the need for traffic signals at the junction of Borrett Road and Kennedy Road.

These signals were intended to allow vehicles to turn left into Borrett Road from westbound Kennedy Road more easily.

The situation at the junction has been closely monitored since a new method of control was introduced in December 1992.

Since then, the Transport Department has received various comments from members of the public, mostly supporting the removal of the signals.

The Transport Department now intends to remove these signals as soon as possible and the junction will revert to a ''priority junction''.
