Brain specialists from the SAR, mainland and Taiwan are to set up a neuroscience exchange body.

The Chinese Brain Research Organisation, which will comprise brain specialists from Beijing, Taipei and Hong Kong, hopes to be up and running by 1999.

Scientists met at the Chinese University last month to discuss setting up the body.

The six-member preparatory committee to oversee the organisation's launch includes Professor Fang Shjao-guang of Beijing Medical University, Professor Ju Gong of the PLA Military University, Professor J. Y. H. Chan of the Veterans General Hospital in Taipei and Professor Chen Char-nie of the Chinese University.
