Civil Aid sex-pest case

Police are investigating claims a Civil Aid Service volunteer sexually harassed teenage cadets.

The senior cadet officer, a full-time Civil Aid Service staff member and a volunteer instructor, has been arrested and bailed.

The case is being handled by the New Territories South region's child abuse investigation unit.

Detectives said they were still trying to determine the number of boys involved.

They declined to confirm a report that boys had been promoted in exchange for sexual favours.

Civil Aid Service principal operations and training officer Wong Shut-yung said he could only confirm that a teenage cadet had complained of being sexually harassed by a male officer.

'The officer involved has been asked to take leave from his voluntary duty.'
