Beware the colour of money
A large number of video-game amusement centres have adopted a practice which would seem to worsen the coin-shortage problem.
At amusement centres in various parts of Hong Kong over the past three months, I have observed many operators paint one-dollar coins in various colours - red, green, blue, black, - to deter people from taking them away for outside use.
This practice must reduce the number of one-dollar coins available for general use, and I wonder whether the relevant government department is aware of this, and whether there is any legislation preventing such a practice.
