May I invite the Consul-General for Australia, through these columns, to comment on the case of the refusal to grant a tourist visa to Brian Kan? On the face of it, it seems ridiculous to require a Certificate of No Conviction, for a visit of three days, particularly in view of the relatively minor nature of Mr Kan's case.

If the Consul-General does not wish to comment on individual cases, maybe he might like to inform us of the Australian Government's policy in these matters.
