Hundreds of fans turned out to support Hong Kong's top 10 bands.

The winning 10 were chosen by the public from among 45 contenders, in a poll organised by Ultimate 903 of Commercial Radio 2.

They received their awards and performed at a concert at the Hard Rock Cafe in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Five individual musicians also won awards and played in an impromptu jam that had people howling for more.

A Commercial Radio 2 spokesman told Young Post there was 'nothing quite as powerful' as music. It knew no boundaries and acted like a 'social glue', he said.

'It is a common language shared by people of different races. It can be described as a bridge that transcends language barriers and the generation gap. Where there are people, there is music,' he said.
