Make sure Earth doesn't move

SHOULD all the 1.3 billion mainland Chinese fulfil their threat (Lai See, March 15) to jump up and down at the same time, thus destabilising the Earth, it behoves the Western powers and possibly Russia to rehearse, and make ready for a counter-jump to offset the resulting wobble of the globe on its axis.

Radio and satellite TV could be used to synchronise our global leaps, and as considerably heavier humans we should be able to out-perform China any day. TED THOMAS Causeway Bay
