WITHERERS clinched their first Saturday League cricket title in 22 years yesterday after cruising to a five-wicket victory over Lamma at DBS, writes Rob Woollard.

An unbeaten 55 from Ross Wilkinson saw Witherers easily overhaul Lamma's modest total of 156 for nine. Wilkinson's knock saw the Witherers finish on 157 for five.

'It's been a very good season for us. We've won 14, lost one and had one rained off. It's been a great effort from all concerned,' said Witherers skipper Roger Mather.

Elsewhere, a splendid farewell innings of 62 from Pat Fordham was not enough to stop Saracens from a 43-run defeat against Nomads. The match was Fordham's last in the Saturday League before he leaves Hong Kong next month after 11 years here.
