Donald Tsang is to discuss the outlook for Asian financial markets with Beijing leaders.

Departing for his first visit to the capital since the handover, Mr Tsang said the exchange would be useful.

But he would not be looking for help from the central Government.

He is understood to be taking with him a paper summarising measures taken over the financial turmoil, and the latest situation.

Mr Tsang is due to meet China Securities Regulatory Commission chairman Zhou Zhengqing, Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office director Liao Hui and Minister of Finance Liu Zongli today.

He will meet Vice-Premier Qian Qichen and Governor of the People's Bank of China, Dai Xianglong, tomorrow and return on Wednesday.
