Light relief burdened by politics

What is wrong with Hong Kong? Too much politics getting in the way? As usual, the Urban Council and the Tourist Board don't seem to be talking.

Why has Cirque du Soleil been rejected by the Urban Council? Why can they not use Victoria Park? It was sold out last time they came and they extended their stay. Everyone loved it. Would this not attract tourists? Surely, the problem with the collapsed tent of Disney on Ice was a one-off.

As usual, whenever things seem a little difficult, the powers in Hong Kong make it more difficult. Just saying 'no' is for drugs and cigarettes, not for trying to improve the tourist industry or uplifting the people of Hong Kong in troubled times.

Come on the Tourist Board and the Urban Council - get together - make yourselves useful and co-operate a little. Your successful co-operation may just put a smile on people's faces here. That wouldn't be bad now, would it? GERHARD KUTT Causeway Bay
