AEI puts P&O Nedlloyd on line

US freight forwarding and transport group AEI has established electronic trading connections with P&O Nedlloyd.

AEI had set up an electronic data interchange connection with the Anglo-Dutch container-shipping line as a first step in a project to create such links with all leading shipping partners, the companies said.

AEI said it would use the links initially to transmit shipping instructions to carriers and in the next few months would add facilities to allow cargo tracking and electronic booking.
