Thomas spreads his wings

UBIQUITOUS late-night radio man Roger Thomas (although his day job is PR director of Duty Free Shoppers) is now spreading his abrasive airwaves style in the direction of London's insomniacs.

Thomas hooked up with London's premier news station, LBC, going out live on DJ David Luddy's All Through the Night phone-in programme - although it was mid-morning over here when he was talking to Londoners keeping awake in the wee hours over there.

Said Thomas: ''During the 40 minutes I was on air, we had six calls from members of the great British public, all wanting to know about the future of Hongkong and how Chris Patten was doing.

''One of the callers was a journalist who had been in Hongkong some months back looking for work. He wanted to know what the chances were for a job if he came back here again.'' Such was the success of the first link-up that talks are underway to try to put it on a regular footing.

Could Thomas be planning a career move back to England where his broadcasting life began? Watch this space.
