Stop spongers

We are a group of Form Six students, and we have some comments on the issue of social welfare, namely the CSSA, given to some new immigrants. We are shocked by the constant demands from some shameless immigrants.

These immigrants come to Hong Kong and contribute nothing, yet they take our tax money. In order to receive more financial subsidies, some of them have more children. They are parasites inflicting damage on our society. As they use up our resources, there is less available to the elderly who contributed so much when they were young.

Some of our grandparents were themselves immigrants a couple of decades ago, but they relied on their own hands to earn an honest and respectable living. So what gives these immigrants an excuse to receive social welfare? Their bad example could also undermine the fundamental belief of most Hong Kongers: earning a decent living through hard work. This may encourage the influx of illegal immigrants, as they may believe our society is being generous.

We have seen Western governments burdened by an ever-increasing number of citizens on welfare. This is something we do not want in our future.
