Turmoil hits RJP Electronics
RJP Electronics, which makes consumer electronic products, yesterday said it made a $27.5 million attributable loss in the six months to December down from a $400,000 attributable profit in 1996 as a result of the regional currency depreciations. The company booked a $17.02 million exceptional loss including provisions for the devaluation of listed securities and a loss from selling a property. This compares to a $3.65 million exceptional gain made in the corresponding period a year before. The company's operating loss before exceptional items grew 177 per cent to $9.68 million.
