Vice Premier Qian Qichen has urged the tourist industry to improve services to contribute more to economic growth, the Economic Daily reported yesterday. Output value of the tourism sector would account for 5 per cent of gross domestic product by 2000, compared with 4 per cent now, Mr Qian said. He said by boosting domestic demand, tourism would be an important part of efforts to ensure Beijing's target of 8 per cent growth this year.
