Contenders eyeing the 10 seats up for grabs through the Election Committee made an early start on canvassing.
At least four provisional legislators turned up at polling stations to exchange name cards with candidates for the committee, who will become their voters if they win.
They were David Chu Yu-lin of the Hong Kong Progressive Alliance, Ho Sai-chu of the Liberal Party, Chan Kam-lam of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong and Law Cheung-kwok of the Association for Democracy and People's Livelihood. Mr Chan was accompanied by fellow party candidate Pang Cheung-wai.
Mr Law, elected to the 1995 legislature through the electoral college poll, said his target was to collect 100 name cards yesterday.
