Viceroy Cup first-round

Brave Five-One-Seven caused another major upset last night when they eliminated defending champions Sing Tao in a Viceroy Cup first-round match at Mongkok Stadium.

The sides were deadlocked at 3-3 after extra time and Five-One-Seven, who were down to 10 men in the 101st minute when defender Lai Ngar-yin was sent off for a second bookable offence, went on to win the penalty shootout 5-4.

Five-One-Seven, who look certain to be relegated this season, eliminated league champions Instant-Dict in last November's Senior Shield first round, also on penalties.

Sing Tao's Chu Yue-tai and Mark Grainger, and Five-One-Seven's Wong Lung-fai and Lee Heung-leung all missed their spot-kicks in the first five rounds.

Sing Tao's Zeljko Gavrilovic missed his in the sudden death session, while Tsang Siu-wing made no mistake to seal the issue for Five-One-Seven.
