Joyce unveils new boutique

Joyce Ma had been so busy preparing for the opening of her new flagship store in the New World Tower, Central, she hasn't had time to do her shopping for summer.

'I have been so busy I haven't even thought about what I want to wear this season,' she said, when asked what she had bought from the spring/summer collections.

But planning what to wear comes naturally to Joyce. For the opening of the new main store, she whipped up a Chinese embroidered skirt 'which has been hanging in my wardrobe for the past 30 years' and a top from her own label, Joyce Collection.

Despite staying up 'until three the previous morning' putting the finishing touches to her 15,000 square foot store, she couldn't have looked better or more chic.

Joyce also revealed that throughout the difficulties she has faced, following the spiritual path has helped her a great deal. 'We have to face what our destinies bring us,' she said. And in line with everything else, Joyce has had to cut costs.

'We hired a local architect to design the store and most of the furniture and fittings have been recycled. The total construction cost of this new store has been kept down to within $12 million.'
